This policy is intended to outline the responsibilities of members of the BCCUPMS community with respect to the acceptable use and security of the information posted on the BCCUPMS website as well as specific duties of the Website Coordinator who is in charge of the website maintenance.
The purpose of the website is to provide the information on articulation meetings, math contests for K-12 students, projects done under BCCUPMS, Indigenization initiatives, etc.
Regular maintenance is necessary to support this purpose.
Nothing in this policy should be interpreted in a manner that is inconsistent with the policies of the BCCAT.
- Information and Contents on the Website
The information available on the BCCUPMS website will include (but will not be limited to):- Basic information about BCCUPMS (Terms of Reference, role, mandate, history overview, current officers of the committee, institution representatives)
- Upcoming articulation meeting(s)
- Travel and accommodation for the upcoming meeting
- Meeting agenda and meeting overview of the upcoming meeting
- List of events (main meeting, Sharing the Math session, etc.)
- Minutes of past articulation meetings
- List and contents of current and past projects and reports
- Math contests in B.C.
- Links to relevant pages of the BCCAT
- Link to other Provincial Articulation organizations (ACAT)
- Indigenization initiatives
- Acceptable Use of the Website
The BCCUPMS Website may only be used in a manner that is consistent with applicable laws, including but not limited to the Canadian Criminal Code, the Canadian Copyright Act, the B.C. Civil Rights Protection Act, the B.C. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the B.C. Human Rights Code. - Website Funding
The website has been funded by private donations from the BCCUPMS community. - Selection and Responsibilities of the Website Coordinator
- The Website Coordinator will be selected every three (3) years at the General Meeting in May unless the Website Coordinator needs to leave the position within the three (3) years.
- The Website Coordinator shall be a member of the BCCUPMS executive team
- The responsibilities of the Website Coordinator are:
- Plan and develop the website in accordance with the requirements of the BCCUPMS.
- Maintain and update the website content on a regular basis.
- Monitor website performance, such as page load times, and other metrics, to ensure maximum user experience as time allows.
- Ensure the website is secure and compliant with data protection regulations.
- Monitor website usage and traffic as time allows.
- Provide support to users to ensure they can navigate the website and use its features.
- Provide recommendations to the BCCUPMS for website improvements.
- Help develop and implement website policies and procedures.
- Members Forum
- Authors of posts on the Members Forum are limited to WordPress.com user accounts that are given the “author” role on the BCCUPMS website. An institution representative may request this role by either
- creating their own WordPress.com account and providing their username to the Website Coordinator; or
- by requesting that an invitation be sent to their email.
- Posts on the Members Forum are publicly visible and therefore should contain non-sensitive content pertaining to topics listed in Section 1.
- Authors of posts on the Members Forum are limited to WordPress.com user accounts that are given the “author” role on the BCCUPMS website. An institution representative may request this role by either
- Test Repository
- The Test Repository page is a publicly visible page that contains sample tests from a variety of institutions for commonly articulated courses in first- and second-year mathematics and statistics.
- Institutional representatives wishing to provide sample tests for the Test Repository page may send tests in PDF form to the Website Coordinator.
- Photographs Posted on the Website
- Prior to the posting of any photograph on the BCCUPMS website, formal permission needs to be obtained from all persons who appear as a principal subject of the photograph.
- Formal permission may be in electronic or hard copy format.
- Permission by way of either a signed and dated form or by way of an affirmative reply to a requesting email shall be necessary and sufficient.
- Permissions will be held as dictated by the Privacy Act
- Definitions
- “BCCUPMS members” are representatives of the BC post-secondary institutions included in the BC Transfer System that are faculty in the Mathematics and/or Statistics Departments of their institutions or equivalent.
- “BCCUPMS Community” consists of all representatives of the BC post-secondary institutions included in the BC Transfer System that are affiliated with the Mathematics and Statistics Articulation Group, and representatives from PIMS, BCCAT, BCCAMPUS, and BCAMT.
- “PIMS” is the acronym for the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences
- “BCCAT” is the acronym for the British Columbia Council on Admissions & Transfer
- “BCAMT” is the acronym for the British Columbia Association of Mathematics Teachers
