The year 2012 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of
Alan Turing
(1912 - 1954), an English mathematician whose was fundamental in the theoretical foundations of computer science.
He is perhaps best known for his work on Turing machines and techniques for breaking the German Enigma codes.
